Transformation of Processor Graphical Representation to the Architecture Description Language

This thesis deals with conversion between graphical and text representation of processor architecture. The aim is to acquaint with both of said tools and introduce the way how the conversion is done. The introduction of EMF and GMF tools of Eclipse IDE is also included in this thesis, because the graphical representation editor is based on these tools. The end of thesis is devoted to reverse transformation possibilities, where the intelligent placing of diagram nodes is required.
Online machine translation of technical texts

This bachelor thesis discusses and then tests the methods of evaluating two machine translators, namely from Google and Microsoft. Based on established criteria, from data received each translator is assigned their error rate. When evaluating translators, the work focuses not only on whether the translator was able to translate a set of texts correctly (spelling, stylistics), but also whether the professional terminology together with the idea behind the sentence corresponds to the original text. In conclusion, the obtained error rate data enable to assess the given translators for suitability in terms of their usage.

The Perception of the Translating and Interpreting Profession in the Czech Republic

This thesis focuses on the subjective perception of the translating and interpreting profession among Czech translators and interpreters, students of translation studies at the Institute of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague, and the Czech general public. The thesis is comprised of two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part characterizes the translating and interpreting profession and describes the knowledge, abilities and skills needed to practice both professions. This part also provides a description of all factors determining the perception of the status of both professions and the factors that have an impact on the real status of translators and interpreters in society. This is followed by a description of the Czech environment and its possible influence on the status and working conditions of translators and interpreters in the Czech Republic. These descriptions serve as a basis for the empirical part of this thesis, which aims to compare, using the questionnaire survey method, the perception of both professions among translators and interpreters themselves, students of translation studies and the Czech general public, and to ascertain the general public's knowledge of both professions. Graduates of the Institute of Translation Studies and their opportunities on the Labour Market

The thesis focuses on the position of graduates of the master's programme in translation and interpreting at the Institute of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague (formerly Department of Translation and Interpreting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University; University of 17 November) on the labour market. It follows up on the survey of employment possibilities of graduates of these institutions which was carried out in 1997 (Čeňková). The theoretical part of the thesis addresses graduate placement from the viewpoint of education policy and of translation studies. This part also provides a description of language industry trends and problems of the translation and interpreting market, with particular emphasis on the Czech environment. The empirical part presents the results of a questionnaire survey among graduates in the field of translation and interpreting from 1967 to 2010. Czech translations of literary fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm

The aim of this diploma thesis is to create a list of Grimm?s fairy tales book editions in the Czech language by using on-line catalogues. Using Retrospective bibliography of the Czech literature 1775-1945 and Lexicon of the Czech literature, the list of the translators was formed and complemented with a public review and feedback on the specific book edition. The last chapter of this thesis compares translation styles in the different editions on the example of the selected fairy tales.

A survey of parallel bilingual texts in connection with determining various translating individualities within the oldest Czech translations

The aim of this article is an attribution survey in case to determine various translating individualities within the oldest Czech translation of the Bible from the mid-14th century, which is a collectively translated text. A survey of a corpus of parallel texts is introduced as a suitable method for deeper investigation of this problem.
